BFoTG completes renovation exercise at Jambanjelly School

The Belgium Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG) whose office is based in Belgium recently completed the renovation exercise of two of three classrooms of the buildings at Jambanjelly Nursery school located in Jambanjelly, West Coast Region.

Speaking to this reporter over the weekend at the project site, the Chairman of the Belgium Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), Patrick De Vos said the entire60 meters Nursery school structures were fully renovated and painted starting between the periods 2019 to 2020.

He informed that in 2020 his organization also renewed the playgrounds in the school while the old ones were removed and in 2021 pupil’s building which was severely damaged by a heavy storm during 2021 rainy season was also renovated.

“Immediately after the rainy season, we started repairing the school fence that was collapsed by the strong winds during the rainy season and this will deter (both animals and human-beings) intruding the school. And this will create safety environment for the school pupils,” Mr. De Vos explained.

According to Patrick, during their stayed in the country in 2021, they started with the full renovation of the pupil’s classroom buildings, a store and headmaster’s office which the entire structures were completely renovated.

Rasing the standard of the structure, “We expanded the said buildings with concrete pillars, doors and windows, provided new ceilings, installed new electricity supply, ceiling fans and a new pavilion outside where pupils can play safely,” Mr. De Vos disclosed.

He sent his special thanks and appreciation to the organization’s Gambian counterpart and headmaster of the school, Mr. Omar Bojang and Mr. Buba Jammeh whose efforts made the renovation exercise went successfully.
