GPF resumes GFF Female Div. One with big win

The Gambia Police Force female team (GPF) has resumed the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women First Division League with a big victory after beating Immigration 6-0 during their week-8 fixture played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Friday.

The defending champions, GPF opened the scoring through Fatou Darboe in the 4th minute of the game, before Fatou Sonko doubled their side’s advantage in the 11th minutes.

Mbassy Darboe scored GPF third goal on her birthday in the 46 minute of the second period, before Fatou Darboe scored her second goal and her side’s fourth goal.

Cathering Jatta wrapped up her side scoring chart with her brace in the 68th and 80th minutes respectively.

This victory made it sixth win for the Police side, while the Immigration side suffered fifth loss of the season.

The triumph moved the Police Female side (GPF) to 2nd position with 19 points, while the defeat dropped Immigration to second-from-bottom (7th) position with 3 points after 8 matches.

Elsewhere, Red Scorpions came from behind to defeat Berewuleng 3-1 during their week-8 fixture played at Basori on Friday.

The Brikama-based team, Berewuleng took the lead through Teddy Jatta’s header, before Ola Buwaro levelled the game for Red Scorpions in the 12th minutes from the corner kick.

Fatoumatta Jammeh gave Red Scorpions the lead after dozing past the Berewuleng keeper, before Marimam Cham swept home in the 71 minute to seal the victory for the Red Scorpions.

The Jeshwang-based team, Red Scorpions, now recorded their seventh victory of the league, while Berewuleng succumbed to their second defeat of the season.

The victory maintained Red Scorpions lead at the top of the standings with 22 points, while Berewuleng occupied 3rd position with 12 points after 8 games.

At the time of going to the press yesterday, on Sunday, Abuko United were taking on Brikama United in the earlier kickoff at Basori, before City Girls entertained The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) in the late encounter.
