Turkish philanthropists spent over D3M on Ramadan food aids

Turkish Muslims charitable organization called International Humanitarian Netherlands (IHHNL) and Umbet organization based in Holland last Tuesday concluded massive distribution of humanitarian food aids worth (D3.4M) to needy Gambian Muslims.

The donation was part of the organization annual Ramadan support to vulnerable Muslims across the world during the holy month of Ramadan.

The distribution of this food Aids was coordinated by Cemiyetul Hayr Relief Organization (CHRO)-Gambia.

The beneficiaries were Chisen Majam village in Jokadou they  received 100sets of sugar, rice and Oil,  Daranka  in West Coast Region received 122 sets of rice , sugar and oils, , KMC and WCR  received 600 sets of  sugar ,rice and Oils, and Sami  district in CRR Received 1,000 sets of rice, sugar and oils  and in total 1,822 families benefited

Speaking at various distribution centres, the Country Director of CHRO-Gambia Musa Jallow disclosed that this year the total amount spent on 2022 Ramadan gifts stand at a tune of GMD3.4 million.

According to him, the total amount spent only on Food items for 2022 annual Ramadan package stand at GMD2.9, iftar meal is GMD300,000  While orphans cloths is GMD148,000.

Mr. Jallow stated that iftars were held at Tallinding Islamic Institute in the KMC and Janjangbureh at the Governor office and over five hundred people benefited from the gesture. Adding that that this year 100 orphans benefited from the Ramadan support funded by IHHNL and Kumbet organizations – all are Holland based NGOs.

Mr. Jallow noted that CHRO is a charitable organization collaborating with IHH Netherlands in helping the needy in The Gambia.

According to the country director in 2003, IHHNL came back to work with CHRO because they had learnt how CHRO operates and were satisfied.

Mr Jallow further highlighted some successful achievements his organisation had registered in the past years, adding that CHRO was once again blessed to witness another Ramadan food package distribution sponsored by IHHNL and Kumbet Organization all based Netherlands.

He said this year their sponsorship package was up to the tune of (57,500 Euros) which was equivalent to (D3.4 Milions ) adding that the money was used to purchase substantial  foods Aids ,  bags of rice, bags of sugar and  gallons of cooking oils , iftars and Clothing for orphans among others, transportations of food items from one distribution  centre to another   across the country..

For his part the Governor of Central River Region Abba Sanyang   commended the donors particularly Musa Jallow the country Director for CHRO- for ensuing that vulnerable Gambian benefit from this goodwill gesture. He said this support had come at the right time and for the right people when needy Gambian are struggling to meet their daily meal.

He said this support will go a long way in helping families during this holy Month of Ramadan and therefore described Musa Jallow as a patriotic Gambia worthy commendation.  He as therefore called on other potential Gambians to emulate Musa Jallow to better support the needy Muslims Gambian.
