Ramadan: Over D2.5M worth of food items donated to needy families

Food items valued over D 2.5 million were recently donated to numerous needy families in the Gambia by a Qatari philanthropist, Muhammed Al Noimi aided by his Gambian pal, Alhagie Alieu Jarju.

The donation which includes bags of sugar and rice were said to be distributed to closely 1700 households across the nation.

The event held at the Management Development Institute (MDI) where Alhagie Alieu Jarju extended his appreciations to the philanthropist for the huge food items donated to the Gambia people.

The NGO has in the previous Ramadan been frequently extending its supports in the form of food items to needy people in the nation.

Speaking at the occasion, MDI program coordinator, Alhagie Sillah Conateh said the gesture will go a long way in easing the expenses of the beneficiaries, particularly in this Holy Month of Ramadan.

He said the priceless interventions by the Qatari philanthropist in The Gambia are in the areas of construction of Masjids, Qur’anic memorization centers, provision of sponsorships and distribution of food items to the needy. He commended Al Noini for the generosity in helping the needy.

The president of the Supreme Islamic Council, Essa Darboe said “difficulties are inevitable but when holding to your religion and praying to Allah, He will ease your burden.” He applauded the philanthropist and the facilitators for their valuable aid to the needy.
