Scorpions intensify training ahead of tomorrow’s return leg game against Chad

Scorpions of the Gambia are intensifying in their training ahead of their tomorrow’s Tuesday second leg encounter against Chad to be played in Agadir, Morocco.

The Gambia senior national team will go to the second leg match with a good away advantage after defeating Les Sao 1-0 in last week’s first leg game in Cameroon which was the home match for Chad.

Substitute Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally, who played his football in the United Arab Emirate for Ajman scored the game’s only goal for the Gambia after being introduced from the bench.

Bubacarr Sanneh, who captained the team during the first leg expressed delights to lead the team to victory during the first leg.

“It was an honour to lead the team on that day. The group was nice. We all were fighting together and the winning mentality was also there as well. This was why we fought until the last minute to ensure that we get the maximum point,” said the Scorpions and SønderjyskE defender.

According to him, they are looking forward to the return leg encounter tomorrow.

For his part, Ebrima Colley thanked Allah for winning their first leg match last week, adding that winning their first leg encounter is very important in their quest to qualify to the Afcon 2023 qualifying group stage.

“We are looking forward to the second leg tomorrow. We are playing to continue working as a team and family to take this team (The Gambia) to another level. We the players are like a family and we hope it is going to be another experience for us,” said Ebrima Colley, who plays his football for Spezia in Italy.

Meanwhile, the Gambian team under the guidance of the Belgian Coach Tom Saintfiet will tomorrow, on Tuesday host Chad in Morocco for the return leg of the 2023 Afcon Preliminary.
