President Barrow blasts breakaway NPP parliamentary aspirants

President Adama Barrow has blasted breakaway National People’s Party’s parliamentary candidates describing them as people who came to his party for their own interest.

Speaking at his on-going thanksgiving tour, President Barrow said: “If 10 people contest for a position that only one person can have, the people who lost should accept the one person who was selected and support that person. This is because if it is you, you would want others to support you.

“So those who refused and went independent are not NPP members. These people came to NPP for their own interest they are only in NPP to look for a job, and for fame.  Wallahi, anyone who is a true member of NPP would remain in NPP even when you are not selected. I know for sure that no matter the situation no one can take what is meant for you and if you are in a rush, you will steal,” he added.

“So, I call on everyone who applied and are now independent (after been rejected] to withdraw their candidacy and return back to the NPP. Because this is the party that will be here for the next five years. Even in 2026, this is the party that will rule this country,” he added.

“What happen to me in this past five years and how the National Assembly affects me I don’t want that to happen again under my leadership, this is why I tight my waist to come out and campaign for my Deputies,” Barrow told the people in Badibou.

“They said the election was cheated but myself this doubted me because we all agree that the Gambia`s election is the most transparent election in the world. Five former presidents come here to monitor the elections and they have all agreed to the election. And I gave thirty-three (33) paramilitary officers to all the candidates so that they can be secured without anyone disturbing them during their campaign. And they have enjoyed that they have that security and went to all the constituencies they wanted to go without anyone causing conflict on them, then how was the election cheated?” he explained.
