Real de Banjul extends lead at top, Brikama Utd, Wallidan defeated

League leaders, Real de Banjul have extended their lead at the top of the GFF First Division League after defeating Brikama United 1-0, while Wallidan Fc suffered a big defeat in the hands of Marimoo yesterday.

Real de Banjul were given the important maximum points after Salifu Colley only struck in the game 66 minute to hand Brikama United their first defeat of the season after 11 matches.

The City Boys, Real, collected their seventh win of the season, while Brikama United suffered their first loss of the season.

Coach Bye Mallah and his charges overall collected seven wins, three draws and one defeat in 11 games, while Brikama United registered three wins, seven draws and one defeat after 11 matches.

Real de Banjul have extended their lead at the table to six points after collecting 24 points with one game-in-hand, while Brikama United dropped to sixth position on 16 points, leveling with Gamtel FC with both teams having a game-in-hand.

Elsewhere, struggling side Marimoo defeated Wallidan FC 3-0 in their week-11 fixture played at the Lives Your Dream Sports Complex in Basori today.

The struggling side, Marimoo scored their three goals in the 23, 49 and 74 minutes respectively to put a setback to Wallidan’s title challenge.

The Manjai-based team, Marimmo, now collected their second win of the season, while Wallidan FC suffered their first defeat of the season.

Marimoo FC, who have been struggling since the start of the league overall registered two wins, four draws and five defeats in eleven games, while Wallidan FC, who started very impressively, collected four wins, five draws and one defeat after ten games.

The victory still maintained Marimoo at the relegation zone to 14th position on 10 points, while Wallidan FC dropped to 4th position on 17 points, leveling with Hawks FC.

Meanwhile, in the earlier games played in the week-12 fixtures of the league has seen Ream Rhino and Elite United play a goalless draw in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field on Friday.

This is Team Rhino’s fifth draw of the season, while Elite United conceded to their first draw of the league.

The debutant side, Team Rhino overall registered two wins, five draws and three defeats in ten games, while Elite United collected one win, one draw and eight defeats in ten games.

The result moved Team Rhino to 10 positions on 11 points, leveling with GPA, GAF and Banjul United respectively, while Elite United maintained their rock-bottom-(16th)-position on 4 points.

Waa Banjul were held to a goalless draw by Falcons in a game played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori.

The Banjul-based team, have been forced to their sixth draw of the season, the early pacesetters, Falcons registered their third draw of the league.

Waa Banjul overall collected four wins, six draws and no loss yet after ten games, while Falcons registered five wins, three draws and three defeats after eleven games.

Coach Abou Njie and his Waa Banjul charges maintained their second position on 18 points, leveling Falcons FC who occupied third position.

Banjul United defeated Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) 1-0 in a game played at the Late Ousmas Saho Field in Old Yundum on Saturday.

The Banjul-based team, who started struggling in the league, now, collected their third victory of the season, while the Ferry boys suffered their fifth defeat of the season.

Both Banjul United and Gambia Ports Authority overall registered three wins, two draws and five defeats after ten games.

They shared the same number of points (10), with Gambia Ports Authority sitting ahead in 11th position and Banjul United occupied 13th position.

The defending champions, Fortune FC beat Samger 1-0 in a game played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Saturday.

The Petroleum boys collected their fourth victory of the season, while the Academy boys suffered their fifth defeat of the league.

Fortune FC overall collected four wins, three draws and three defeats after ten games, while Samger FC recorded two wins, three draws and five defeats after ten games.

The win moved reigning champions Fortune FC to 8 positions on 15 points, while Samger dropped to second-from-bottom-(15th)-position on 9 points.

Hawks FC defeated Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 2-0 in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Sunday.

The Reds, recorded their fifth win of the season, while the Soldiers, suffered their fourth defeats of the league.

Hawks FC overall collected five wins, two draws and three defeats after ten games, while Gambia Armed Forces recorded two wins, five draws and four defeats after eleven games.

With the victory, Hawks FC moved to fifth position on 17th points, leveling with Wallidan, while Gambia Armed Forces dropped to 12th position on 11 points, leveling with Team Rhino, GPA and Banjul United respectively.

Gamtel FC beat Steve Biko 1-0 in a game played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Sunday.

The Telecommunication boys registered their fourth win of the season, while the Beach boys suffered their fourth defeat of the season.

Gamtel FC overall collected their four wins, four draws and three defeats after eleven games, while Steve Biko registered three wins, three draws and four defeats after ten games.

The result moved Gamtel FC to seventh position on 16 points, leveling with Brikama United, while Steve Biko dropped to ninth position on 12 points.
