A parliamentary candidate for Foni Kansala has urged the nation’s youths to be ready to uplift the country and ensure that the upcoming National Assembly is not a rubber stamp to repel the aspirations and needs of Gambians.
Almami Gibba was speaking to reporters shortly after he filed his nominations with the Independent Electoral Commission at the Brikama Regional Office.
“It is high time the youth take over the country to change the narrative in the National Assembly from not being a rubber stamp, but a National Assembly that will stand for the aspirations and minds of the people. That’s to make sure the laws are enacted and protected and stand firm to make sure that Foni and Gambia is protected,” he said.
According to him, the country is suffering from injustice and hardship while disclosed that part of his mission to the NA will be to fight by ensuring good laws are put in place to end such injustices against people especially people of Foni.
He lashed out the APRC lawmakers for betraying the needs of their people and urged that the people of Foni are ready to ensure such people are not representing them in the parliament anymore.
Mr Gibba disclosed that Foni is misrepresented and whoever there serving at as their representatives is not there for the wish and aspiration of the people of Fone but “for their pockets. We are now saying no, we are youths of Foni, we need change and that change is imminent comes 9 April. We will continue the fight to make sure we are not enslaved twice.”
“As we campaign, we will go holistically peacefully and explain the narrative, the suffering and torturing that my people have faced. So we will work toward peace, guiding principle of the rule of law will be our top priority,” he added.
