Brikama Area Council has been accused by its market vendors of not doing enough efforts to bring development to them.

Amadu Tijan Barry said the size of the market is very small one of the reasons that many vendors are standing on the main highway   to sell their goods.

“This is not correct and nice and we are paying duties every day, this is roads for cars and they can easily cause accident or kill us especially the reckless drivers among. The market is not hygiene stagnant water is everywhere, it is not also good for our health because this is where we spend averagely the whole day,” he lamented.

According to him, they have complained such issues to the Area Council but nothing has been done and we did urge the council to take their responsibility because there is no development in the market.

“The market place is very small that’s why vendors are standing on the main way to sell however, if the area council take their responsibility by developing the market all this would not happened, but despite our complaints we have not received any help from them,”Sulayman Ceesay one of the vendors revealed.

In spite of the suffering, he said they are still counting on them to help them develop the market because it is where they spend the whole day to earn a living and “we are paying duty everyday so it is worthy for them to consider our standard of living.”

“Despite payment of our due duties every day we are still living in this unhygienic environment, we have no choice other than to stay in this environment this is where we earn a living. However, this stagnant water is not good for our health and we have been complaining no one come to our aid,” he voiced out.

“The Brikama area council should look for a solution because we are the reason why they are there and our problems should be their concerns this is what we expect from them and not the other way round, “he said.
