Brikama alleged robbery gang will be arraigned

Police have said that the detained four men suspected of series of robberies in Brikama and its surroundings are due in court for the crimes of robbery.

The suspects were detained amid police clampdown on crimes and criminality – days after 38 people were arrested within Serrekunda.

“They will be charged and paraded in court,” Police communication unit said, noting “they are currently detained and investigation is ongoing and upon completion of the probe” they will be arraigned.

“Residents are urged to continue sharing vital information with the police to ensure the activities of these unscrupulous people is curtailed.”

“Four suspected Robbers believed to be behind series of reported robberies with violence in the west coast settlement of Brikama have been nabbed on Tuesday afternoon, 8th February 2022, after their hideout in the Methodist mission forest was raided by men of the Brikama PIU and CID. This came after residents of Jamisa and Nyambai raised concerns to the police of the heinous activities of these criminals,” Police said.

“The men are: Muhamed Danso of Busumbala, Famara Jallow of Brikama Madina, Saikou Njie of Brikama Nyambai, and Ebrima Danso of Farato all adults. At the time of their arrest by the men of the Brikama PIU and CID, these four men were found with dangerous weapons like Knives, Scissors, suspected cannabis, Alcohol, cooking utensils and a cooked lunch of the local ‘ benechin’ dish. They are currently detained and investigation is ongoing and upon completion of the probe, they will be charged and paraded in court,” Police added.

Meanwhile, Police said their detectives in the WCR have taken into custody, two young men, noted for breaking and stealing in and around Kunkujang, adding “the suspects, Tamsir Jagne 17 years old of Lamin Village and Khalifa Ceesay, 19 years old of Kunkujang were believed to have unlawfully entered into the dwelling house of the victim, whilst she was asleep and carted away two flat screens and a Bluetooth speaker, all valued at D60,000 (Sixty Thousand Dalasi).
