President Adama Barrow has renewed his calls to Gambian in Diaspora to return home and invest in the country.

The President made this call shortly after he opened the third edition of the TAF Gambia annual networking event at the Coral Beach Hotel, while he praised Mustapha Njie for his courage to join the Nigeria big market.

Statistics have shown that The Gambian Diaspora contribute staggering 64 per cent in to country’s Gross Domestic Product through remittances. Economists also thanked Gambians abroad for ensuring the country’s economy doesn’t go into recession as thousands of families rely on their relatives for food and other needs.

Meanwhile, President Barrow said: “It has given me hope in the New Gambia. I have said before, Gambians in the Diaspora are at liberty to return home. I have hope that we will succeed if we are together, like China did in 39 years. We have our strength; it was our togetherness that was why we defeated the dictator without a fight.”

“I have formally opened the third edition of the TAF Gambia annual networking event at the Coral Beach Hotel this morning. It is a great initiative by Mustapha Njie – TAF. He is a courageous man to join the big market in Nigeria,” he added.

“I had my doubts about how he could succeed but he has shown courage, confidence and dedication to succeed, despite coming from a small country, The Gambia. I was also impressed by the statement of Dr Karamo Sonko,” he added.
