Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, leader of United Democratic Party (UDP) has vowed that a democratically elected government of his party will start serious works and business in just three days after victory celebration.

The UDP Party Leader accompanied by senior party officials and militants are on a nationwide tour to explains the party 5-Points Agenda to electorates and are currently in Lower River Region (LRR) of the country.

“I want to believe that there is only one reason why you are all standing here patiently under the hot sun today and I am sure it was same reason why you acquire your voter’s cards, that is to go out and for me and secures the victory.

If that happens, then I can fulfil the pledge that we will celebrate for three days and by the 4th day, we start serious work that has not taken place for past 25years in this country,” Darboe told cheering crowd in LRR.

He added: “We were very optimistic after the 2016, change with the view that the change will improve the likelihood of the youths, improve agricultural development to mechanization and improve the health sector whereby no patient will be scared of been infected for merely visiting the health facilities. We were yearning for a health system that can provide medicines to our patients, that is why we voted but unfortunately, none of these aspirations have been fulfilled by this government.”

According to him, incoming UDP government will waste no time in standing by the task of nation building and improve the livelihoods of the Gambian people as ascribed its 5-Points Agenda, adding that UDP government will create the enabling environment for youths to make meaningful living in the country without embarking on back-way journeys to Europe, thereby risking their precious lives.

He further pointed out  that  UDP   government will equally address the many challenges confronting Gambian children and women, adding that they will never settled for anything beyond ensuring that Gambian children are accorded with quality education and good health care system.

“We will never be contended unless our rice fields are development to an extent that we can produce enough for both consumption and export. We will never be contended until when our women no longer uses crude farming tool and until when we have a steady and reliable internet connection for our country,” Darboe disclosed.

He added: “The issues I highlighted here are all captured in our 5-Point agenda that we will start implementing as soon as we come to power. If you give us the power in every two years, you will be amazed with our developmental works because we will ensure that your trust on us is never betrayed.”

Darboe continued to appeal to Gambian electorates not to disappoint the aspirations of the young ones who graced his Soma meeting, observing that the powers that Gambian electorates used against Yahya Jammeh can still be used to remove Adama Barrow from power for failing to meet their hopes, wishes and aspirations.
