Dodou Jah, deputy spokesman for APRC has said APRC and National People’s Party alliance is a victory for The Gambia.
Mr Jah slammed critics condemning his party for forming alliance with President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party as people who don’t know the laws and they don’t have respect for the rights of people.
APRC and Barrow’s party came under fire in the hands of Gambian opposition parties, victims and civil society organisations after forming alliance ahead of 4th December presidential election, as they described the alliance as a sign that President Barrow lacks commitment to give justice to the alleged victims of former President Yahya Jammeh.
But responding to the critics of the alliance, Jah said: “those condemning the alliance are the one who does not know the laws and secondly they don’t have respect for the rights of people. Those saying no party should accept APRC for an alliance…In the Gambia, all political parties need to form alliance with APRC and it was any of their aims to form alliance with us, but since APRC formed alliance with NPP, they are not happy.”
“APRC is a registered political party and it has every right to form alliance with any political party, and we say this: no one will teach us politics because we have been into politics for so long now. We can do what are doing and we are good at what we are doing. So, let anyone of them that has ideas keeps it to him/herself,” he added.
However, speaking on the APRC/NPP marriage, he said the alliance is a sign of national unity and reconciliation
So, this shows how important unity is in a country and it helps a nation to develop and seeing these people coming together is a win for The Gambia, he added.
