Man arrested in Kerewan with suspected cannabis

Police in Kerewan have arrested a Senegalese man with suspected 16 bundles of cannabis.

Police high command in Kerewan and Governor Lamin Saidykhan has commended Police Coastal Patrol Team for their commitment in intensifying constant patrol and mounting security check points to halt all forms of illegal activities.

Ansumana Kinteh Regional Police Commissioner for NBR hailed the joint officers for their commitment to duty, under the Sub Inspector Amie Sam Commander of Patrol Unit. He noted that his men and officers in the region will galvanise all efforts to ensure drug free region.

The security on Wednesday 18th August, at security checkpoint at Suwareh Kunda made large seizure of 16 big bundles of suspected cannabis in the area. The cannabis was packed in a big suitcase by a Senegalese national Abdou Joof of 40 years travelling from Kafunting in Casamace via Barra en route to Dakar. The suspect will be handed to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Barra.

RSM Ousman Samba hailed men and officers for effective execution, noting that there is need to conduct regular search to protect the population from criminal activities. He disclosed that the suspect was travelling on 7-seater vehicle to Farafenni at 3: 00pm.
