Ramou Sabally, national public relations officer (PRO) of the National People’s Party (NPP) has announced her defection to the United Democratic Party effective on Monday 16th August, 2021.
She also threatens that any insults emanating from supporters of the NPP camp vis-à-vis to her joining the UDP will not be appalling.
Her defection comes at a time when the National People’s Party has been entangled with internal rift among top senior party officials.
Last week supporters of Maimuna Baldeh, National Women’s President and Maimuna Ceesay- Darboe, Diaspora Chairwoman of the NPP party were seeing trading insults to one another in a bid to defending their various camps.
However, the defection of Ramou Sabally did not come as a surprise to many political pundits after the release of an audio where she officially announced resignation from President Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP) on Monday.
“I want to thank my brother Alhagie Conteh for convincing me to joining the United Democratic Party (UDP). Equally I want to thank my brother Momodou Sabally and the entire UDP party, today am here to declared my decision to join the UDP,” former NPP National PRO announced her defection.
She added: “I have decided to relinquish all my positions in the NPP. I have handed over all my two positions in NPP and to officially announce my defection to join UDP, Hon. Ousainou Darboe and all the UDP family effective Monday.”
The former NPP National Public Relations Officer continued to call on all the supporters and sympathisers of the United Democratic Party to thank Alhagie Conteh and Momodou Sabally for convincing her to join the party, disclosing that her defection to the United Democratic Party is as a result of the pivotal roles been played by the two gentlemen.
In another audio that went viral Ramou Sabally has threatened to respond befittingly to insults that may emanate from supporters of the National People’s Party (NPP), adducing that any insults meted out on her will be replied with a purported nude video of a senior executive member of the NPP.
“I will never entertain any insulting from supporters of the NPP and anyone who insults me will pay the ultimate price. If I get any insult from the NPP supporters I will release a video of (Name withhold) that has been hiding from the public view,” she warned.
According to her, the decision to cross carpet to the UDP is solely her choice, disclosing that the leader of the NPP, President Adama Barrow has never disrespect her nor ever abuse her in the cause of her stay in the Party. Until her defection Madam Sabally has played a major role in the formation of the NPP. She was among the founding Members of the Barrow Youths for National Development also singlehandedly established the Barrow sisters association nationwide where she served as the national president until her defection yesterday.
