Wrestling: GWA Ends Two Days Workshop in Basse

The Gambia Wrestling Association on Thursday 1st April, 2021 brings down the curtain of a two days training workshop at the Chinese Hall, in Basse Upper River Region.

Twenty participants including wrestlers, promoters, traditional singer, Regional Committee members, Marabou and drummer selected across Upper River Region (URR).

Declaring the workshop opened on Wednesday, Governor of URR Samba Bah, thanked the GWA for choosing to hold the workshop in his region and urged the participants to make good use of the time.

On his part the Chairman of the Basse Area Council Foday Danko delivered a speech on behalf of the President of GALGA said his association is working very closely with GWA on the implementation of the project. He advised the participants to be very attentive and transmit the knowledge gain back to their Communities to revive the country’s oldest sport.

Alagie Abdoulie Bojang Desk Officer for Wrestling described it as a milestone in the history of the sport “I am very happy and emotional today. I can now confidently say that wrestling is on the right path, this is the first time such a workshop is happening,” he lamented.

Sering Modou Faye President of The Gambia Wrestling Association said that his executive is glad to associate with GALGA, GCCI and NCAC in the project and will make sure that it is fully implemented.

Mr Muhammed Sagne of GCCI also expressed his organisation’s gratitude to be part of project that will directly impact on life of the Local people.

The two days gathering saw the participants put through different presentations on key areas.
