Independent candidates for the upcoming December 2021 presidential election, Bankole Yao Jojo Ahadzie, has said that his government will introduce a compulsory D10,000 minimum wage in the country for the working class if he’s elected president of the nation.

“My government will create good jobs for the Gambian people that will at least pay ten D10,000 per month, the country will develop. If government can create one thousand jobs each year that pays at least D10,000 per month, it will change the narrative. This is how a country can develop rapidly but not by taking massive loans each year,” he told reporters at a news conference organized at Tamala beach in Kotu.

Among his plans is to transform the education sector in to a quality one and make education free for the public, “we cannot continue seeking loans and grants from other countries.”

“My government will not invest nothing less than One Billion Dalasis in sport. One billion is what will take to build a proper football league that will pay salaries to both players and other bodies within the sport if we want to compete at international level,” he pointed out.

Banky, 44, continued that “what I am proposing is for national development by us is for us to give each voter D5,000.  This is not the money that you spent individually, but you will have a say on how do you want the money to be spent. He added 25% of the budget will be giving directly to the people for them to decide what development they want in their communities”, he stressed.

As part of his manifesto, the independent candidate reiterated that If he is elected, his government will promote free quality education to ensure every child get access to quality knowledge.
