Former minister of interior and leader of Gambia Moral Congress has advised the government to empower the security forces to be conducting nights patrols in order to help address crimes rate in the country.

Mai Ahmed Fatty, who was also an advisor to Gambian president Adama Barrow, was speaking at news conference at his home residence in Bijilo as he celebrated his party’s flag with GMC supporters.

“I called on Gambian to form watch groups and patrol the communities at night as the government is not providing security. The rate of crimes in this country is getting higher in daily bases. People are losing their loved ones from attacks by criminals and the government is not acting quickly to address the problem,” he said.

He urged the government to focus on key issue facing the country and said: “we want the integrity of the Gambian people to be safe. We want our children to be protected at school and at their play grounds.

However, he said that: “The Gambian people will prove in 4 December 2021 presidential election whether President Adama Barrow is capable of ruling the country and prove if Barrow cares about what is happening in the country.”

“NPP is already death and GMC are waiting for 4th December 2021 to take Barrow out of the state house. Barrow is ready to leave state house and I call on the electorates to rally behind GMC and join the bus before it too late”, he said.
