Tonia-Taba village gives free land to Ministry of Education

Jarra Tonia-Taba village has given a land size 500×500 to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for the construction of a multipurpose Technical and Vocational Senior Secondary School.

Officials from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Educatin in collaboration with the MRC- Holland Foundation, Karamba Foundation and the Community of Jarra Tonia Taba conducted a joint inspection at the site.

Representing the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Momodou Jeng, Director of Curriculum, thanked the community for the gesture, adding that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is determined to integrate skills into the general education program to equip students with the relevant livelihood skills.

According to the MRC- Holland project manager, Mr. Phoday S. Touray, the Senior School is expected to have 3 blocks of 4 classrooms, staff quarters of 10 rooms, 12 toilets, a kitchen and a functional borehole.
Once completed, the school is expected to boost quality technical and vocational education for students in Region-4.

The event also witnessed the signing of a Contract agreement between MoBSE, MRC-Holland Foundation, Karamba Foundation and the Community of Jarra Tonia-Taba.
