NA Committee on Tourism engages Stakeholders on reports

National Assembly Select Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Youth and Sport has engaged stakeholders to submit their activity report, financial statement and management letter from 2018 to 2019.

Alhaigie S. Darboe National Assembly member for Brikama North and Chairman of the select committee disclosed that the committee meeting is to held to enable them prepare to summit their reports as they understand that some institutions are facing difficulties with regards to the auditing exercise and that of Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) report.

“Based on that, the committee decided to adjust the program at least for one week to allow the audit department to do the auditing exercise as well as GPPA to report it. We hope and pray that the schedule dates are going to accommodate them to do their works,” he added.

Dawda Kawsu Jawara, NAM for Upper Fulladu West and Vice-Chair of the committee, explained “when we came in to the parliament, we found no memory of this committee and that give us a tough time to settle down. However, we want to avoid that so that the next legislature that will come in will fine everything smoothly to proceed with the work.”

He said further that they need to have a mutual understanding and working plan to see how they can address the issues reports.

He pointed out that those institutions that have not taken this thing important as it supposed to be especially National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) has the opportunity to work and finalize all their reports.

Meanwhile, most of the institutions confirmed that their 2018 reports are done as well as GPPA also confirmed that none of this institutions has been reviewed for 2019. But nonetheless the committee has drafted a date for all institutions  including National Spots Council, National Youth Council, National Council for Arts and Culture, National Enterprise Development Institute, National Youth Service Scheme, Independent Stadium and Friendship Hotel , Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute and Gambia Tourism Board  for reviewing and submission of their 2018 and 2019 reports.
