One of the Gambian prominent human rights lawyers has called on political parties to unite and depose President Adama Barrow in December 2021 election, as it is an only solution   to unseat the sitting president from power.

Assan Martin, in his words said “I call on political parties to alliance for December 2021 presidential election, if there is any possibility, because it is the best solution we have to remove President Barrow from office.”

He added: “2016 was hijacked by incompetent people which led to the failure of the mandate and vision coalition that defeated ex-president Yahya AJJ Jammeh.”

He emphasised that Gambians should make sure this time around they pick leaders who is sincere and can help to move country forward and create jobs for Gambians especially the youths.

Lawyer Martin, alleged that President Barrow’s is not interested in running the affairs of the country as he keep repeating the same mistakes of his predecessor, Yahya Jammeh. This, he said should be a lesson to political party’s leaders and reason to compromise and form   alliance against him.

He disclosed there will be strong alliances with good agenda as they are engaging political parties to enable them have a good leader that will lead the alliance.

“This time is the real time for change if not, it will be worst for Gambians, with this current situation of National People’s Party (NPP), National Reconciliation Party (NRP) with other parties to continue governing this country. It is not about let’s give him a second chance,” he pointed out.

Gambians should use their common sense and know that if a government under-perform such government should go and “our differences should not matter, we can trace out a path that can bring a better change that is different from 2016 alliance. We are very hopeful that Gambians will listen,” he pointed out.
