Gambians are demanding for answers from the government over the seized cocaine, as they called for absolute transparency in the matter.

They want the culprit and his associates be brought to book without delay.

According to some youths that spoke to this reporter they said “drug squad are responsible for this case, those containers arrived with believe that they contain salt whilst they are cocaine powders,” Pa Modou Bojang said.

He added: “Thanks to Allah who revealed their plans if not Gambia will be a Bantaba of drugs. Because they want to make Gambia a dumping site for cocaine. Although huge amount of money is involved but it will tarnish the country’s image.”

Mr Bojang advised government to come on board and inform the public not through a mere statement.”

He explained that cocaine makes user to act like a confused person, it destroys life and as well keeps user away from friends and families.

Lang Sonko, a concern citizen said: “it is indeed sad for a small country like Gambia seeing some peddlers bringing in to the country three tons of cocaine powder.”

“Cocaine is very dangerous may be the president did not know what cocaine is, the country is at risk, every Gambian should wake up and stand against this because it is serious,” Mr Sonko added.

He urged Gambians to help and save the country from this mess.

“This issue should be tackled immediately; Gambians should wake up and demonstrate for the whole world to know that we don’t want such thing in our country. I think that is the best idea since cocaine is peddling is a forbidden business and contraband which can even destroy the country if youths are involved,” said Lamin Conteh.

For his part, Kekoi Sanyang said: “If the government face any problem it will affects the whole country, people should stop fabricating information that the cocaine destination is not The Gambia. Mere transiting the country alone is an offence.”
