Brikama Area Council holds stakeholders’ summit

More than five Brikama councilors under stewardship of Brikama Area Council (BAC) have gathered together on Tuesday to proffer practical solution to help better build the region’s council.

The United Nations Development Program [UNDP] funded event was held under section 48 of the local government Act 2002 with the aim of bringing stakeholders under one unifying umbrella with the theme “Building a responsive, open a proactive Council”.

Speaking at the event, Sheriffo Sonko, BAC’s chairman said: “they are deeply convinced that stakeholder’s engagement will undoubtedly be a key to attain their vision. Also, for them to be vibrant and environment friendly council that will provide the right conditions for the effective involvement of various actors in the economic and social life of the region.”

“We are convinced that our diverse stakeholders have enormous capacity to provide relevant and strategic policy advice. And we will immensely contribute towards the attainment of our strategic goals,” he added.

He stated that the dialogue will enhance the quality of life and the social cohesion of the inhabitants of West Coast Region (WCR) by embracing the best practices of good governance, social-economic justice and citizen-focused service delivery.

Modou Jonga, CEO of Brikama Area Council, also said in order to accomplish these responsibilities an effective engagement with diverse stakeholders is a fundamental requirement and a useful strategy.

He noted that it is their strong expectation that this inclusive dialogue will give a unique platform to better identify joint solutions, opportunities to build a council that is responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.

Governor of West Coast Region (WRC) Lamin Sanneh, said: “the dialogue is a testimony of the BAC commitment to ensure that the interface is not only timely but responsive.”
