President Barrow to start unannounced visit to MDA’s, unjustifiably absent staff to be sanctioned

Noah Touray, Secretary General and Head of Civil Service has said that President Adama Barrow will embark on unannounced visit to MDA’s and Heads whose staff are unjustifiably absent.

According to a circulated letter to the various institutions which states that “It has come to the notice of the office of the Secretary General and Head of Civil Service that public offices are habitually reporting to work late as well as leaving offices before the official closing time. Furthermore, this office is also aware that some offices close before official closing time purporting that their Departments run short of cash power.

“These attitudes of public officers are not acceptable and Heads of Department are recalled to address this in accordance with General Order12209 and Public Service Commission Regulation 46.

“Heads of MDA’s are hereby put on notice that His Excellency the President will henceforth be embarking on unannounced visit to MDA’s and Heads whose staff are unjustifiably absent will be sanctioned.

“In the same vein, the Personnel Management Office is hereby requested to carry out routine inspection of MDA’s in this regard and report any MDA found wanting.”
