Ministry of higher education updates NA on annual report submission

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has updated lawmakers on its annual activity report submission.

Badara Joof said: “the institutions under the Ministry of higher education National Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA) has summited the activity reports and financial audited account up to 2018. The activities report for 2019 is ready and will submit next week.”

He said they had requested for the external auditors to conduct the external audit since March 2020, but they did not come due to covid-19. He disclosed that the external auditor started the audit exercise by 29th  June 2020, and the audited account is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly by end of August 2020.

The Gambia Technical Training Institution (GTTI)

He said that the GTTI 2017 audit and institution report are ready which will be submitted today (Wednesday). He added that they are currently working on the 2018 which will be ready by September 2020 and 2019 will be ready by October 2020.

The University of the Gambia (UTG)

He said UTG had submitted the Annual report to the National Assembly up to 2016. However, 2017, 2018, and 2019 annual report are been compiled for submission to the National Assembly latest end of August 2020, he added.

He said the audited financial statement for the year ended 31st December 2016 and 2017 have been considered and approved by the University governing council and submitted to the National Assembly.

He assured that the 2018 audited financial statement will be submitted to the National Assembly by 27th July 2020 while the 2019 audited exercise is yet to take place due to covid-19 pandemic but is expected to be concluded by 15th September 2020.

The Gambia College

Meanwhile he said the Gambia College has prepared its activity report up to 2018 and 2019, adding that audited account and the financial statement are drafted up to 2018.

He added that the auditors are finalizing the 2016 and will also audit 2017 and 2018 which will end their contract, and the College has written to the audit office to recruit auditors for 2019 financial year.

The management development Institute (MDI)

Minister Jobe said (MDI) annual report for 2018 and 2019 is ready and submission to the national assembly will be done by the end of June which is was yesterday.
