NAMs refers defence ministry’s reports to house standing committee

National Assembly members on Tuesday referred a joint report of the defence ministry to house standing committee on security and defence.

The ministry’s joint reports is an agreement between the republic of the Gambia and the government of the republic of Turkey on cooperation in military field of training, techniques and science signed on the 05th May, 1991.

Amendment  protocol No.1 on the agreement between the republic of the Gambia and the republic of Turkey on cooperation in military field of training, techniques and science, singed on the 5th May 1991, signed on the 22nd June, 2012, the  implementation protocol regarding the financial Assistance between the government of the republic of the Gambia and the government of the republic of Turkey signed on the 02nd May, 2019, and the  military financial cooperation agreement between the republic of the Gambia government and the government of the republic of Turkey singed on the 02nd May, 2019.

Presented by defence minister, Shikeh Omar Faye, he said “I bet to move that this august assembly do consider and verify the agreement sign between the government of Turkey and the government of the Gambia.”

“The government of the Gambia has a long-standing bilateral relationship with government of Turkey since our independence which has led to the signing of four agreements between the government of the Gambia and the government of Turkey in the area of military cooperation. This agreement provides a framework from the state Turkey Military support to the Gambia Arm Force citing that the Turkey government has been assisting the Arm force by providing allowances under-going various military coast,” he added.
