Majmou’atu Rawdatul Majaalis has strongly condemned any act that is protectecting homosexuality in the country, as members described it as indecent, immoral and not Islamic.

Majmou’atu Rawdatul Majaalis is an Islamic organization formed to re-enforce unification between the Muslim Ummah in and outside the country. The organization is a strong pillar and advocate for peace, love and oneness with greater attachment to the well-being of the Muslim Ummah and humanity in general.

It could be recalled that recently the European ambassador to The Gambia has expressed the EU’s commitment for The Gambia Government to protect the right of gays and lesbians. Also, the National Human Right Commission report demonstrated the need to protect people regardless of sexual orientation.

Speaking in a press conference on Sunday, Sheikh Cadi Abdoulie Kante, the organisation’s vice president said “If this practice is maintained in the country. It would cause catastrophic for Gambians.”

“Therefore, we strongly condemn it; it’s something we cannot support. This is something we hate. Over our dead body this will not be legalized in the country. If this happens in The Gambia, it would only cause disaster for us,” he stressed.

He said there are many views about the outbreak of coronavirus around the world as many aregued that it is a war between the western and eastern supper power countries. “This is a calamity from God owing to the negative practices happening on this planet.”

According to him, as long as the world is suffering from this Covid-19 pandemic all and sundry should have been asking forgiveness to God for the bad deeds committed on earth rather than people further committing the worst sins, homosexuality.

“Gay defenders are people who are selling their next world to this world in order to escape poverty, may this practice not be maintained but if it is maintain in the country it would not be nice,” he said.

He called on religious leaders, marabouts, Islamic teachers and others to unanimously work together to ensure gay practice is not maintain in the country. But quick to add that few people are trying to defend gays and lesbians claiming it is human rights because it is their own interest.

Aboubucar Jabbi, secretary general for Majmou’atu Rawdatul Majaalis described same- sex marriage as terrible, noting it was because of the practice of gay why landslide hit mankind and killed all except the followers of the then Prophet Luth.
