Brufut has finally received 27,000 bags of rice and 4,000 bags of sugar as well as 2,500 litres of cooking oil as Covid-19 government food relief package.
The aid comes amid doubts as hundreds of people have been in waiting for almost a month without receiving the food aid.

Speaking to The Voice in an interview, Molamin Manneh, Alkalo of Brufut said “the rice distribution is going on fine as people bear patient with us despite the huge crowd present here.”

He said since the start of the distribution some individuals had been claiming their houses hadn’t been registered, saying they should come to report at the distribution spot.

According to him, over one week his workers have been going around the community to register people, “we summited the report and nearly a month of waiting after passing the report and the food come base on the number of household we registered.”

He commended the government of Adama Barrow for providing such an aid to the people of Brufut and The Gambia as a whole.

Ma Bintou Sanneh, a beneficiary, expressed satisfaction about the distribution which was based on data collection. She confirmed that “the distribution of the rice is not political motivated and it should not be because it is here for every Gambians.”
