Brikama Major District Hospital receives 200 Lenses

Brikama Major District Hospital (BDMH) received 200 Lenses with different sizes from one Dominic Mendy courtesy from his Netherlands philanthropist’s kind generosity.

Mr. Mendy handed-over the Lenses to the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) at the Eye Unit of Brikma Major District Hospital (BMDH), Babucarr Jarjue on Friday at the Eye Unit Lab within the hospital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dominic Mendy informed the health personnel that the items were few but they will be useful to those who are in need of the Lenses within and outside West Coast Region (WCR).

He assured them that his friends will in future continue to offer more help to the hospital while calling on other philanthropists within and outside the country to come to the aid of the health facilities in the country.

They also provided the following Covid-19 food relief to the community of Manduar in West Coast Region recently, 15 bags of rice, 15 gallons of 1.5 liters vegetable oil, second hand clothes and shoes.

The Officer-In-charge (OIC) Eye Unit at Brikama Major DBrikama Major District Hospital (BMDH), Babucarr Jarjuewelcomed the initiative from the Netherlands couple through their Gambian counterpart, Mr. Dominic Mendy.

“The Lenses will be useful to patients with pseuphakia problem because the hospital lacks biometry machine to check IOL power,” Babucarr Jarjue informed.
Coordinator Community Screening at Brikama Major District Hospital (BMDH) for West Coast two, Yankuba Sanneh described the donation as timely.

According to Mr. Sanneh, there are people in the Region who are really in need of the Lenses but due to some reason they cannot afford it but with these Lenses it will help them a lot.
