TANGO gives 53 bags of rice to vulnerable families

Tango, a non-government organizations has given out 53 bags of rice of 25Kg worth D33,125.00 to the vulnerable families as the coronavirus pandemic persists.

The food support was a French Embassy’s project dubbed ‘PISCA PROJECT’ which meant to support human right gender, rule of law, security personnel and civil society organizations.

Speaking during the brief presentation ceremony held at the Tango office, Ousman Yabo, Director of Tango said they have recognized some of the needy people around to give them at least one bag of rice each.

He explained that the PISCA project is meant for civil society organizations and rule of law and human right gender but with the outbreak of the covid-19 he said they appealed to the donor to let them use part of the fund to buy foodstuff to help the vulnerable people in the fight against covid-19.

Alhagi S. Cham, program officer of Tango pointed out some of their initial plans which included buying of buckets, detergents for distribution but with influx of it everywhere they changed it to foodstuff taken into consideration one of the measures – ‘stay at home’ to control the spread and contracting the virus.

He noted that the food supports will have impact on people who are at home to remain comfortable as the State of Public Emergency continues.

Abdoulie Camara and Rohey Sambou, both beneficiaries commended TONGO for helping them in this trying time caused by the deadly coronavirus.
