Suwareh Kunda Youth Development Association provides food aid to Suwareh Kunda

Suwareh Kunda Youth Development Association in Lower Badibou has provided some food items to Suwareh Kunda as a relief package in this situation of Covid-19.

Commenting on the donation, Ebrima KS Dampha, Governor of the North Bank Region lauded the efforts taken by the association in complementing government efforts in the fight against COVID-19. He said the development of the country call for concerted efforts of all stakeholders.

He uses the moment to call on youths to be vigilant and promote solidarity in advancing development needs of the community.
Governor Dampha reminded people of the Region to be vigilant and ensure people coming in and out to practise regular hand washing and also encouraged youths to promote social distancing and uphold to WHO guidelines to control COVID19.

Speaking at presentation of the items held Lower Badibou, Yaya Fofana chairman of the association said presentation of the food items which include 112 bags of rice, 40 bags of onion, 40 gallons of cooking oil and 15 bags of sugar would obviously help some of the families at this difficult time. He disclosed that the food items are for the entire households of Suwareh Kunda.

He used the opportunity availed him by the presentation to call on everyone to uphold the WHO and Ministry of Health guidelines to control the spread of the global pandemic.

Imam Sambou Suwareh and Lamin Jaiteh Youths leader of Suwareh Kunda both thanked the association for the foresight in providing support to the community. The duo described the support as first of its kind to be undertaken by the association and it has demonstrated unity and solidarity among members in the Gambia and Diaspora.

Representing Alkalo of the community, Yaya Suwareh, said the support would complement the household food security.
He used the occasion to commend a single donor, Malamin Fatty who donated 40 bags of rice, 40 bags of onion and 20 liters of vegetable oil. His support according to the community was part of annual support to the community during Holy Month of Ramadan.
