Police Spokesperson confirms arrest of Gambians, Nigerians for hacking Trust Bank

The Gambia Police Force Spokesman has confirmed the arrest of Nigerian and Gambian nationals for hacking Trust Bank Gambia Limited,

The high profile financial crime case is being investigated by the police’s fraud squad. Assistant Superintendent Lamin Njie said the nabbed suspects are currently helping the police in their investigations.

According to the Spokesperson some people have been arrested including some Gambians and Nigerians in connection with the matter and the investigations are still ongoing.

The arrest of the suspected culprit is something relates to account hacking and investigators will soon establish the truth of the matter “because for now, they want to exhaust the investigations,” ASP Njie noted

The ASP couldn’t give full detail as regarding to number of people arrested for now but promised to update the press later with additional information.

It should be noted that some Trust Bank staffers were recently sacked from the bank. Reports also suggest that the hacking must have been an inside job.

But the police spokesman said he doesn’t know if Trust Bank staffs are implicated in the alleged hacking case.

How the information reaching us indicates that  the hacked accounts have been recovered and the situation is under control.
