The Ward Councillor of Gunjur has called on the embattled Chairman of Brikama Area Council to comply with his recent expulsion from the UDP and honorably leave office with dignity and respect.

Momodou Charreh Gibba in an open letter addressed to the expelled Brikama Area Council Chairman Sheriffo Sonko advised him (Sheriff Sonko) to comply with the recent decision made by the UDP and do the most honorable thing by packing his belong and leave office with respect and dignity.

In his letter, he states “I write to advise you to comply and do the most honorable thing to pack up and leave office with little dignity. It is so unfortunate that the councilors and councils in general do not have any hand in the crisis. As a councilor we have worked together in harmony even though it was very challenging,” he said.

The expelled UDP Chairman was further advised to call on the council’s Vice Chairman in order to facilitate a smooth and peaceful handing over ceremony of an acting chairmanship before any by-election is conducted by the Independent Electoral Election (IEC).

“I hereby encourage you to call your vice chairman and work out a handing over smoothly. It is a done deal that your career as chairman is cut short, and I hope you will take it in good faith because what fated to happen will happen. So I hope you will realize the reality on the ground. You must not allow people to mislead you and I am never your enemy during our time of work at the council,” he states in the letter.

The expelled BAC chairman including two other UDP ward councilors were last month expelled from the United Democratic Party following their recent alleged  allegations of rendering political support to President Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP).
