Honorable Seedia Jatta, National Assembly Member for Wuli West has urged government to take keen control of the country’s borders and airport in order to protect the country and its people.

He made this call on Tuesday during the sittings at the National Assembly.

Hon. Jatta, pointed out that other neighboring countries are not allowing flights into their countries since the confirmation of the pandemic while and they want their flights to come into The Gambia.

He therefore urged the government to take control of the borders and airport without that he said the country won’t be at safe.

“We can never make mistake if we use our heads, recently I have been listening to world news including China, I was alarmed because of the measures they are taken and I came here is like nothing is happening,” he said.

He explained that there are two imperative fundamental requirements that government have to fulfill in fighting against the Covid -19, this are “the preventive measures, and the curative measures. We have capacity for preventive measures but we don’t have capacity for curative measures.”

He advised government to encourage medical establishments to have a core of scientists that will serve the purpose of the country.

In addition, he urged his fellow NAMs to go back to their various constituencies and sensitize the people to understand the situation and to help them on how to prevent the virus.

He concluded that preventing yourself from it is not the only solution but to get rid of it or cure it when you get infected “though we don’t have the capacity to do that, that’s the fundamental issue here,” he said
