Minister Cole Describes SBEC International Students as National Heroes

The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) described SBEC International School students as National Heroes after capturing 1st position in a Roboticcompetition in US recently among the African countries and 2nd in the World while US came out with 1st position in the World.

“The three students who took part in the competition were: Abdoukarim Demba, Abdoulie M. Njie and Malick Alasdair Jammeh. The individual competing student and the Founder/President of Robotics Hub in The Gambia who led the students to the US, Hassan Sillah were each presented with Certificate by the event organizers.

The students after their returned from US were on Thursday made a courtesy called on Minister Claudiana Cole at her office in Banjul to express their profound thanks and appreciation to her Ministry for the support they are rendering to SBEC International School and College for the past years.

They were led to the Minister’s office in Banjul by the Heads of SBEC International High School and College, Mamadou Colley and David A. Hafner where they presented to the Minister an Award.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Cole explained to the students and their school heads how excited she was about their brilliant performance during the Robotic competition in USA.

“Am proud of you for making MoBSE and the entire Gambians proud of you because coming out with 1st position in Africa and 2nd position in the world at the end of the Robotic competition in the USA is something that is worthy of national celebration,” Minister Cole stated.

On behalf of The Gambian leader, President, Adama Barrow and the people of The Gambia she went on, MoBSE family thank you for raising the Gambian flag into higher heights internationally.

The Head of SBEC International High School, Mamadou Colley said they were at Minister’s office to dedicate the award to her entire ministry because of the unflinching support they are receiving from MoBSE.

He assured of continuous fruitful partnership with MoBSE adding: “It would be difficult to come-out with the flying colors at the just ended Robotic competition in the USA if MoBSE is not behind SBEC International School AND College”.

Director, Science and Technology Education (STED) at MoBSE, Momodou Jeng, Head of SBEC International College, David A. Hafner, Founder/President Robotic Hub in The Gambia, Hassan Sillah both spoke at the ceremony. The occasion was chaired by the DPS Finance at MoBSE, Jerre Sanyang and witnessed by the World Bank Officials.
