President of Supreme Islamic Council has blamed Gambia’s problem on politicians and their political activities.

Imam Momodou Lamin Touray was testifying before TRRC on Wednesday saying: “politicians should not involve or used the council in politic as some Politian used imam to run their own interests.”

“I appeal to the Gambian people to respect the supreme Islamic council saying that they have done so many good things even during the case of Jammeh we mobilize 100 Imams from CRR to beg Jammeh to leave the country,” he said.

However, he said “Ba Kawsu should be banned saying that the way he attacks people if not they will be beat him,Ba Kawsu Fofana was banned from the council due to challenges of his mentors citing that to avoid problem he should be banned from the council, as mentor will always be your mentor no matter what circumstances.”

Meanwhile, Imam Touray added: “Sharia law did not force anyone to pray but rather to advise them, weather they do it or not and the council came in order to maintain peace and harmony, as he revealed that the arrest of Sheikh Muhideen Hydara was because he refused to obey the orders of Government by not praying.”

According to him, if the Ahmadiyaa group stayed in their limit then they will not have any problem with the Muslims as they build schools in the Gambia which Gambians were learning from the school, even the people were hospitalizing with them

“We don’t have the power to stop them but if we have the power, we will not allow them to do something in the name of Islamic”, he added.

He also sough forgiveness saying “no matter who you are you are just a human adding that you may do something unpleasant to people that they will not like  and I ask forgives  and if anyone say anything against me I forgive.”
