The President of Gambia transport union (GTU) has vowed to stop all Senegalese commercial vehicles enter the Gambia adding if the ongoing dialogue between two governments fails to resolve the transport border problem between the two unions.

Omar Ceesay who spoke in a voice interview said: “we are not going to relent until we protect the interest of our members as a union and country in particular. Our yesterday protests to put stop to all Senegalese commercial enter Gambia was cancelled because of late intervention of government to dialogue with its Senegalese counterpart but despite that we are not going to relax on our decision to stop all Senegalese commercial vehicles enter the Gambia.”

“And if the ongoing dialogue between two governments fails to solve the transport borders problem between two unions, we will close all border entries from Senegal to deny their commercial vehicles enter the Gambia to also protect our interest,” he said.

According to him, they are going to meet all our union members around the country this week to make sure they are prepared to retaliate on any denial of our vehicles to enter Senegal, adding “we hope there is a good result from the dialogue of two governments that will favor both unions but if not we will stop all commercial vehicles from Senegal to enter Gambia.
