Alhagie Basiro Gassama, who claims of once being an APRC divisional youth adviser for Kanifing municipality, has slammed APRC party for demanding the return of former president Yahya Jammeh.

Weeks ago, some thousands of APRC supporters took to the street to demand the rerun of ex-president Jammeh, who has been living in exile in Equatorial Guinea since losing the 2016 presidential election.

Speaking in a voice interview, Gassama said: “I was shocked when I understand my own people went on the streets to demonstrate for Jammeh’s return.”

He said it is fine for Jammeh to return home as he did to his predecessor Jawara but added “it is quite different as Jammeh should answer to allegations of killings and tortures.”

“What APRC should do is they should clam down and make the victims happy and show them sympathy and reconcile with Jammeh’s victims,” he said.

Those propagating for Yaya Jammeh should know that Gambians are watching them because they cannot be double standard in this country for their interest, Mr Gassama added.

According to him, he regretted of once being an APRC member because of the revelations of gross human rights violations Jammeh has allegedly committed.

He however warned those criticizing the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission   saying the commission is doing a fantastic job for the country.
