Gambia for Five Years petitions Barrow to rule for five years

Gambia for five years, a pro-government group has petitioned President Adama Barrow to rule for five years.

Thousands of the group’s supporters took to street in a form a march from sting corner to Denton Bridge calling for Barrow not to step down from power.

In a petition letter handed over to the government’s spokesman Ebrima Sankareh,

Mbake Fatty said: “the main objective of Gambia for five years and peace building is to defend the constitution and to maintain peace and stability of this country. We voted for Adama Barrow for five years even if he wants to step down for the 3years we will not agree.”

According to him, people saying that it in the constitution that the president can step down in three years are misunderstanding the constitution noting that there are terms and condition for the president to resign.

“As democracy is in this country let the 3 years movement knows that were somebody right stop that’s where the other person rights begin adding that they have voted for five years.

According to her they want to show the world that we have voted for five years and the president was sworn-in to the rule the country for five years.

Madou Touray the NPP division chairman of CRR said in early December there was a group who are going against our constitution demanding our president to step down noting that they also come out to defend the constitution against the people who want to destroy it.

In this country they voted for five years adding that if any disagreement in the country we have to go the constitution which is the supreme law of the land, he pointed.

“We cannot destroy our country for the sake of an agreement adding that none of the agreement of the coalition was fulfilled”, he alluded.
