5-Year Peace Building, Operation 3-Year Jotna Endorse Peace Deal Agreement

For peaceful co-existence among the people of The Gambia, the Five Years and Peace Building and Operation Three Years Jotna, Saturday, endorsed a Peace Deal Agreement to marked the end of the two-days National Dialogue known as The Peace Conference.

The National Dialogue which is one of its kinds was organized by The AfriCare Initiative (TAI) in collaboration with other peace advocates in The Gambia.

The two groups were joined by members/representatives of existing political parties in The Gambia, guest speakers, and general participants at the event to sign the Peace Deal Agreement as presented by The AfriCare Initiative.

The two-day Peace Conference which took form of television talk show on the first day and general dialogue on the second day was held at the Labaranda Coral Beach Hotel, Brufut.

The Peace Deal Agreement which does not stop any of the two rival groups from their mandates – the proposed protest by members of the Operation Three Years Jotna and the continual pursuance of peace and dialogue of by the Five Years and Peace Building is meant to give peace a chance and further guaranteed peace, freedom and peaceful co-existence in the country.

Also it is a symbol for continue living in peace, harmony, promote human rights and related concepts and strengthen the love between Gambians and people living in The Gambia as one people, one Gambia.

The two groups for a first time sitting in the same platform to discuss about peace under the theme: Rethinking and Acting on The Situations of The New Gambia – Giving Peace a Chance for a Better Co-existence.

Among other discourse as segmented at the event were Peaceful Transition presented by member of The Gambia for 5-year and Peace Building. Why three years was presented by the Operation 3-year Jotna, while party members presentation were on Was the Agreement Based on Verbal or Writing Arrangement?

Ms Makra Opoku from New York and Dr Darboe, AfriCare Initiative made presentations on Conflicts and Its Damages. However, Dr Senghore presentation and the NYC representatives were based on Consequences of Conflicts and The Role of Youth in Promoting Peaceful Co-existence in The Gambia respectively, while Jainaba Fatty discussed Importance of Peaceful Co-existence.

Meanwhile, the signed Peace Deal Agreement as presented by The AfriCare Initiative read “We pledge to Gambia our homeland, that no matter what we do, come December 2019, we will maintain peace by all means for a better co-existence,”
