United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Ousainu Darboe has described the government of President Adama Barrow as “replica” of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction is a political party (APRC) regime, citing Fatou Bah-Barrow foundation as an example, arguing that the constitution does not recognize the creation of such foundation.

He urged The Gambian leader to focus on implementing the 2016 coalition agenda rather than focusing on party politics.

Addressing tens of thousands of UDP supporters at a political rally in Bakau on Sunday, Darboe revealed that UDP have made a proposal to the Constitutional Review Commission for the participation of Diaspora in elections.

He added that participation of the Diaspora is the greatest concerned raised by Gambians during his European tour

Darboe said he has seen the desire of Gambians both at home and abroad for UDP led government and also their ambition to see proper infrastructure, affordable quality education and health service to the citizenry.

The party leader also took a snipe at the current proposal by the government for the transformation of The Gambia Technical Training Institute, describing the move as “misplace priority.”

“Attention should be given to the current university to upgrade it to high standard and the welfares of the teachers rather than proposing for another university. The current situation of our health sector is pathetic as there is not enough medication for patients who are only prescribed to buy medication from pharmacies. If we also look at the current ranking of the country’s investment in the World Bank index, it is pathetic. Gambia used to be ranked 134 by the World Bank but now it has drastically ranked at 150 in term of investment which shows that the country is sinking and is a failed state,” Mr Darboe told the jubilant supporters.

Other speakers include, Aji Yamou Secka, the deputy party leader, Kemseng Jammeh, Lamin Dibba, Madi MK Ceesay and Almamy Fandi Taal who al spoke highly of the party.
