An anonymous witness has told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission on Monday that former president Yahya Jammeh sexually abused his female protocol officer.
She said Jammeh approached her on a number of cases demanded to sleep with her but that she refused to his demand and she was later expelled by Jammeh from Kanilai.
“Yahya Jammeh called me in a room when I went he told to undress and asked me he is doing some spiritual bath on me’ but she found it awkward and went defiant to his request,” she said.
She however said on the second time according to her, “I did but this time it was different and he started touching my body and my breast’ adding that Jammeh also slept with his niece.
She said they were kept in a big room in Kanilai saying “Yahya Jammeh would call the protocol officers at night, sometimes he wouldn’t be bothered to call all the protocol officers but he would only call one protocol officer.”
She said at Kanilai was stressful but due to the situation of Jammeh they couldn’t resign from the job saying “the situation was very disturbing and I hardly sleep at night because I always have nightmares” adding her salary was little above 6000 dalasi.
She said Jammeh offered her a job of a protocol officer the first day she met with him without any professional procedure, adding “I used to be very outspoken but now I am very quiet and I isolate myself, I have been isolated, she expressed of the trauma of the situation on her.”
She said state house officials wouldn’t give them any work to do ‘because they were considered Jammeh’s girls and Jammeh us them gifts like laptops and a collective vehicle as luxury.’
