4H The Gambia trained 25 farmers on Moringa, bees wax soap to boost women enterprise and economic development

The National  Program Director of 4H The Gambia  a local NGO  has concluded training for 25 farmers on Moringa, bees wax soap to boost women enterprise and economic development.

The training aims  to  building the capacity of women in to processing of moringa and wax soap to boost economic and combat skin infections. The training is part of GEF funded project of Promoting women enterprise development to mitigate effects of climate change. The training  held at Farafenni in the North Bank Region. brought together 25 farmers  from 9 communities of Upper Baddibou and Jokadou.

Speaking at the end of the three days training, Alieu Ceesay director4H The Gambia commended Global Environment Facility Small Grant Project for empowering communities and institutions in promoting effective environmental management practices.

According to him, the project will support   established seven  women enterprises in the area of moringa soap and body cream  in Upper  Baddibou and Jokadou districts, adding it will help women to optimally use the skills and  contribute to reduce pressure on the forest.

Awa Sarr lead trainer noted that the training will help women to develop skills and knowledge and by extension become self-reliant.

She also said moringa and bees wax soap are very useful in fighting  against skin infections and pimples.  Madam Sarr called on women to diversify in to productive sector of the economy, noting there is high demand  and market for the products.

Isatou Jobe of Kerr Omar Saine, Fatou Bah Kaba Koto and Fatou Jagne of Memmeh all commended 4H The Gambia for building their capacity on soap and body cream making out of beeswax and moringa.

Beneficiary villages in Jokadou include Memmeh, Kerr Omar Saine, Kaba Koto and Kerr Ngor and whilst in Upper Baddibou Kubandar, Kerr biran, Galoya, Konteh Kunda Niji and Konteh Kunda Sukoto all in the north bank region.
