US-based Jamaican artist Donates D100, 000 to Old Yundum primary school

L J ital, a Jamaican-US based artist donated D100, 000 to old Yundum Lower Basic School on 5th September, 2019.

The gesture means to renovate some structures in the school such as the fence, mosque, and toilet among others to ensure enabling learning and teaching environment for both the pupils and teachers.

Speaking to The Voice in an exclusive interview Mr. Nfamara M. Sanneh, principal of Old Yundum Lower Basic School Basic School described the gesture as timely intervention in the school.

“I welcome the idea because I’m in need of such gesture in the school. Therefore, I welcome this without hesitation,” he said.

However, Mr. Sanneh said prior the presentation he approached the philanthropist for his school’s principal concern but she told him that she already had her own project and she can’t change her project.

According to him, the school will ever remember the donor (LJ Ital) for the magnificent gesture, adding that this project will promote the donor owing to the good job she has done for the school.

He called on government attract many people who are interested in investing on education in the country so as to help in improve the educational sector.

“There are people who are interested to see education improving and if they are convince to come into the country they can be able to help in developing the country’s education,” he said.

Alieu Saine, Village Development Chairman expressed delight on the donor for what he called a giant development in the door step of the school. He said the school has been intruded by notorious people all along but added that surely this gesture will reverse the situation in the school.

Mr. Saine advised the school’s administration as well as the teachers to be committed on their daily work, be regular in teaching and execute their functions effectively and efficiently.

Further advising the school, he called on the school to take good care of the donated resources so as to prolong it services.
