Ex-VP Tambajang, PPP Gomez leads President Barrow’s 5years Mandate

The campaign for President Adama Barrow to be endorsed for five years mandate is led by Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang and People Progressive Party cabinet member James Gomez Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, The Voice has learnt.

Source closed to Coalition 2016 revealed that there has been a failure into discussions meant to convince stakeholders to endorse five years mandate for President Barrow to remain in office till 2021.

This comes on the heels of mounting pressure from the 3years Jotna Movement, a pressure group that is continuously advocating for President Barrow to leave office after three years in power as agreed by Coalition 2016 stakeholders.

“I can confirm that our recent discussion that was meant to allow President Barrow to rule for five years has failed. This discussion is led by Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang and James Gomez both has been trying to convince us to agree on five years for President Barrow to lead the country,” Anonymous Coalition 2016 Member disclosed.

According to our source, both Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang and James Gomez have been making lot of calls in the background to Coalition 2016 Stakeholders to agree on a five years for President Barrow, disclosing that since last week Wednesday the duo have been tirelessly trying for the Stakeholders to agree on a five years for President Barrow.

“Since Wednesday both Fatoumata and Gomez have been calling us to agree on a five years mandate for President Barrow. We could not agree because we have sent series of resolutions to President Barrow for possible consideration, but he never agrees, this is why when this people come up with the idea to endorse five years for President Barrow we also declined,” Our source pointed out.

Our source allegedly  accuses Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang and James  Gomez for continues  pressure on the Coalition Stakeholders to approve  a five years mandate for President Barrow without considering other aspect of the Coalition 2016 agreement.

“They want us to agree on the five years that will allow Barrow to rule till 2021 without touching other aspects of the agreement. We suspect that once we agree to the five years part of the agreement other binding issues will never be considered,” our source noted.

“What we demands is to treat all the aspects of the Coalition 2016 agreement altogether but not on piecemeal basis of allowing five years mandate to President Barrow. By giving President Barrow five years will also defeat key components of the 2016 agreement that clearly calls for President Barrow to serve for three years mandate,” our source pointed out.
