Alieu Jeng Ends testimony  

Alieu Jeng another member of the infamous hit squad of the exiled former president Yahya Jammeh known as junglers yesterday confirmed his participation in 40 killings including 30 Ghanaian nationals and five incidents of tortured.

 Among the killings he participated according to him, were the execution of 30 Ghanaian nationals, Dawda Nyassi, Malafi Corr, Haruna Jammeh, Masireh Jammeh, Daba Marenah, Dedya Hydara, Alieu Ceesay, Alpha Bah, Ebou Low and others as well as five incidents of tortures which include the tortured of Nfaring Sanyang.

Appearing before the truth commission for the second time, however said he could not remember the exact number of victims that were executed but based on his observation they were not more than thirty, noting that he and Omar Jallow alias “Oya” were responsible for the transportation of these foreign nationals to the execution ground at the forest.

Mr Jeng who was a Private soldier at the time of the operation further revealed that Solo Bojang was the one in-charged of this operation who was also taking order from the late Tumbul Tamba.

According to the witness, he would not know whether Tumbul Tamba was aware of this particular operation but did confirmed that Solo Bojang was privy to the operation, while explaining the manner how the operation was conducted.

He claimed that the execution of Ghanaians and the other operations he participated would not have occasioned without approval from the exiled former President Jammeh.

The witness at this point categorically explained that based on the chain of command, Jammeh was responsible for the killing of these foreign nationals.

On the execution of Haruna Jammeh, the contradicting Malick Jatta explained that Haruna Jammeh was taken to the bush where he was executed to death by suffocating him to death by tiding his throat with a rope.

On the execution of Malafi Corr and six others, the witness testified that he only participated in the transportation of the victims to the execution ground but denied participating in the killing.

At the end of his testimony, Mr Jeng who looked remorseful pleaded for forgiveness from the victim’s families, while blaming the former President Jammeh for all these incidents due to his greed for power.
