My office will uplift lives and livelihoods -Says Old Yundum MP

Abdoulie Ceesay, National Assembly Member for Old Yundum Constituency has said that his office will do everything possible to uplift the lives and livelihoods of the people of his constituency,

He disclosed that the current developments underway in his constituency speak volume that the constituency is the right footing.

Hon. Ceesay made  the statement  in an exclusive interview with The Voice revealing major initiative underway in the Old Yundum namely,  the recently completion of a successful footfall tournament organised for the youths of the constituency in a bid to promoting peace, unity and understanding among the community.

“I think we are on track as far representation of the people is concern. Our desire is to ensure that all hands are on deck in our efforts to attract progress and development for our people,” Ceesay pointed out.

According to him, the rationale for organising such a tourney is meant to bring together the youthful population of the community to forge mutual understanding and cooperation among them.

He added that the tournament has served its purpose as for the first time it has engaged the youths during the Ramadan period and help boast the physical fitness of the youth folk.

“The Buffer Zone – Wellingara Library high way is under construction, this development is initiated by both Brikama Area Council and KMC. This is a very important project and really have met the demand of the people of both my constituency and Latrikunda Constituency,” Ceesay said.

He also said the road is meant to link Old Yundum to Latrikunda Sabiji, noting that the road wills not only safe time for commuter but will also help boast business within the area.

He pointed out that the construction of the road is long overdue as it wills natural killed the stress and long times of travel from Old Yundum to Latrikunda.

“The construction of the D7.8 million dalasi market project under the auspices of the Brikama Area Council was initially launched. This project equally meet the growing demand of the people in that village as they always trek distance to buy food items for their daily usage,” he noted.

Ceesay disclosed the construction of a senior secondary school project for Sinchu Sorrie, describing it as another milestone registered under his leadership, that for decades the entire constituency is without a public senior secondary school.

According to him, the advocacy started one year ago and  today positive response regarding the project is welcomed by the community, saying that  land is available and the government will soon kick start the construction.

“My leadership has also registered success bringing One Cent Foundation and BelGambia Dream Foundation to support 50 kids with educational materials, including school fees, food items and clothing. Recently 10 kids received €50 each for their school fee, “outlined

He commended the community of Nema Kunku for embarking on a community tesito by refilling potholes within the community, noting that his office   will continue to support such initiatives as a means to complementing the efforts of the government.
