A five year Strategic Plan of the Gambia Livestock Marketing Agency (GLMA), has been validated over the weekend, at the NEMA Hall Abuko.

The validation workshop was meant to ensure a befitting action plan for the Livestock Agency to ensure the attainment of its targeted objectives.

The Gambia Livestock Marketing Agency was established by an Act of Parliament in 2008, to promote the commercialization and marketing of livestock in The Gambia and to facilitate the participation of livestock marketing.

Ebrima Cham, deputy director general GLMA, said the strategic plan was developed in line with the recommendation of the Public Enterprise Committee, to reposition itself in line with the priorities of the government, as articulated in the National Development Plan (2018-2021).

“The process started from October2018 to March 2019 and the draft report was subjected an in house review on two occasions  to ensure that  befitting strategic plan is developed for meeting the objectives of the agency. Today we are gathered here today to scrutinize and validate the document and I hope we will do justice to the document”, he said.

Dr. Demba B Jallow, director general GLMA, emphasized that the document will help them set their priorities, strengthen their operations and ensure that employees and other stakeholders, are working towards the attainment of the set goals.

He said: “the document will set our priorities and enable us focus on those synergies and our resources on those activities. I hope that we will do justice to the document and all other relevant issues that are lacking in the document will be captured and to come up with a solid strategic document”.

Dr. Saikou E Sanyang, director general department of Agriculture, urged participants for the document to be incorporated in the strategic plan, and also to improve the quality of their work.

“We will validate the strategic plan document, so that it becomes the working document of GLMA and we will try our best to ensure that all the comments and valuable inputs are incorporated in the document before the final document is being produced”.
