KAC, GAMWORKS Handed Over Construction of Sub Treasury, other Contracts to Contractors

Kerewan Area Council (KAC) and GAMWORKS on Tuesday handed over three contracts to different contractors for the construction of Sub Treasury office complex in Ndungu Kebbeh Lower Nuimi, Storey building to accommodate Sub Treasury and Guest House in Farafenni and Kaur Car Park in Farafenni.

The three contractors for the projects are Jarjue Kunda Enterprise, Touba AKC Enterprise and AK Construction Company while A+A architects Consulting Firm will supervise the implementation of the contract with contractors. The supervisor for the implementation of the project is GAMWORKS, it is part of Rural Infrastructure development project funded by OPEC Fund for International Development.

At the projects’ sites, Malamin IL Bojang chairman of Kerewan Area Council underscored the importance the council attaches to the provision of conducive working environment to enhance productivity and make services easily accessible to tax payers.

He noted that the construction of the guest house for the council would help in generating more resources to respond to the development needs of tax payers. And the construction of the Kaur car garage is a demonstration of the council commitment of giving back to transport union and drivers, as they are good partners to Kerewan Area Council.

Governor Ebrima KS Dampha lauded Kerewan Area Council and GAMWORK for the foresight having in building infrastructures for tax payers to improve lives and livelihood of the people.

The Governor handed over a cheque of D300, 000 to GAMWORK as part of counterpart contribution for the sub projects to be implemented by GAMWORK.  He therefore used the ocassion to reiterated government’s commitment of all inclusive participation in advancing the country development aspiration in attaining National Development Plan.

Seedy Touray, Chief Executive Officer of Kerewan Area Council disclosed that the council has earlier paid in D1.5 million for the three projects to GAMWORK.

He called on timely payment of rates and taxes to enable council bring development to the doorstep of tax payers.

Furu Gomez Project Manager at GAMWORK reiterated the agency commitment in partnering with local council on the successful implementation of Rural Infrastructure development project to improve the lives and livelihood of the people.

Kitim Dibba President of the transport union and Samba Njie Chef de Garage of Kaur car park all applauded the area council on the projects.
