Daughters of Africa Foundation Project in partnership with ‘Diago’ have launched seven projects within the greater Banjul aimed at supporting Gambians in those fields.
Daughters of Africa Foundation was formed in UK and registered in The Gambia in 2016 aims of supporting and empowering Gambians through various Institutions.
The launched projects include Magazine, Film, First Aid, Museum, Sports rehabilitation and massage, Construction, and Nutrition and long health conditions.
At least 18 Gambian youth leaders with 20 students from the University of West England on Sunday gathered in Mandinari village for the launching of the projects.
The two weeks projects which commenced its functions on Monday is to train 450 Gambian youth.
In addition, the foundation will train Gambian nurses from the project, helping the National Centre for Arts and Culture in archiving, rebuild the scrap library, train Gambian nurses in the foundation course at SOS children village, and head coaches in the West Coast Region.
Speaking at the launching, Famara Fatty, Program Manager for Daughters of Africa Foundation said “the whole idea is to cover the entire Gambia but for now we do not have that capacity to do that.”
According to him the Foundation is doing its projects in stages, and the projects will for now focus in the greater Banjul area but in December it will expand its projects to the rural Gambia.
Mrs. Mian, senior lecturer at the University of West England, expressed delight on the launched projects, while Paulin Bailey and Odiri Ighamire key founders of ‘Daughters of Africa Foundation’ expressed assured the gathering of their continuos collaboration.
The Foundation has so far partnered with nine Gambian Institutions namely University of the Gambia, SOS Children’s Village, St Peters Junior and Secondary Technical School, Abuko Youth Association, Peoples’ Learning Centre, Kampeng Kaffo Women’s Group and West Coast Region Football Coaches Association.
